Sun and moon
A long time ago, the Lord of the Sun married the Lady of the Moon. They loved each other very much, but the Lord of the Sun was often traveling. Meanwhile, the moon woman wandered longingly in the night sky, waiting for the sun to return.
The moon woman was very beautiful, and the Lord of the Sun was a very jealous husband. He was annoyed by the clouds that brushed the moon woman's cheeks, and he was jealous of the water in which the moon woman was reflected.
Oh, the moon woman was too beautiful! Her gentle light even shone into the chambers of men, so that many a man looked up at her at night full of longing.
Eventually it became too much for the Lord of the Sun: "You walk across the sky all night and your beauty no longer lets people sleep. Who knows where you shine in everywhere. It would be better if you hid your face and wore a veil in future."
“Why should I wear a veil?” asked the moon woman. “I'm always so alone, what harm can a little admiration do?”
But the Lord of the Sun refused to relent and threatened: "If you don't wear a veil, I'll look for another woman. Do you see Venus there? She is also wearing a delicate veil. Yes, I will marry Venus!"
Now the moon woman was startled. She loved her sun husband and was delighted that his radiance also illuminated her.
“Very well, I'll wear a veil,” she promised.
Satisfied, the Lord of the Sun set off on his celestial journey. But the moon woman wandered through the night sky without a veil and let herself be admired. Only at dawn, when the Lord of the Sun returns home, does she cover her face behind the veils of mist that rise from the meadows.
